Add a piece of Dutch design history to your interior with this beautiful handkerchief vase from Wout Wessemius. Measuring 21.5 x 21.5 x 25 cm, this vase is a striking and stylish object that is both aesthetic and functional. The vase is in good condition and is signed at the bottom with "Wout Wessemius, Groningen Holland" and a number.
Wout Wessemius, who originally studied Civil Engineering at the HTS in Groningen, decided in 1981 to leave his career as an engineer behind and pursue his passion for design. Initially he worked a lot with acrylic (plexiglass) and created iconic pieces such as the 'Luné' lamp (1983). Later his focus shifted to the use of raw materials such as copper, rubber, leather, lead and steel.
Wessemius is known for his unusual and unique designs, often inspired by accidental finds such as a rusted piece of iron or an oddly shaped leather patch. His work includes a wide range of interior and exterior objects, as well as special projects such as Bodega restaurant "de Apedans" and clothing store "Project 43" in Groningen.
