FIND BEAUTY IN SMALL THINGS.
Mijn fascinatie voor kunst en authentieke objecten kreeg echt vorm in 2013, toen ik de opleiding antiekhandelaar startte. Vanaf dat moment ging ik bijna wekelijks op zoek naar:
- Objecten die mij raakten:
- Objecten met karakter.
- Objecten met een ziel.
- Objecten die iets vertellen.
In 2014 richtte ik De Tuin der Kunsten op in bijberoep. Aanvankelijk lag de focus op het ontdekken, verzamelen en verkopen van authentieke kunst- en decoratieobjecten. Maar gaandeweg ontdekte ik dat mijn echte passie niet lag in het object zelf. Wel in wat er gebeurt wanneer een object op de juiste plaats terechtkomt. Wanneer kunst, decoratie en interieur elkaar versterken. Wanneer een ruimte meer warmte krijgt. Meer persoonlijkheid. Meer harmonie.
In 2021 maakte ik de sprong naar een voltijdse activiteit als interieurcomponiste en zaakvoerster van De Tuin Der Kunsten.
Vandaag help ik mensen om kunst, decoratie en interieur op elkaar af te stemmen zodat een ruimte niet alleen mooi oogt, maar ook goed voelt.
Ik geloof dat een interieur iets moet vertellen over de mensen die er wonen.
- Niet over trends.
- Niet over perfectie.
- Maar over persoonlijkheid.
- Over herinneringen.
- Over wat iemand raakt.
Mijn missie is eenvoudig:
De Tuin Der Kunsten brengt kleur en harmonie in interieurs door kunst en objecten te lezen, niet te etaleren. Ik help mensen die veel hebben, maar het overzicht kwijt zijn, én mensen die weten wat ze willen, maar het juist willen laten kloppen.
Ik verkoop daarom niet zomaar kunst. Ik herstel verbinding tussen:
- Mensen en hun ruimte.
- Objecten en emotie.
- Oud en nieuw.
- Gevoel en harmonie.
Dat is de rode draad doorheen alles wat ik doe.
Ik kijk naar:
- de ruimte
- het licht
- de bestaande meubels
- kleuren en materialen
- de persoonlijkheid van de bewoners
- het gevoel dat een ruimte mag uitstralen
Ik zie vaak interieurs waarin kunst aanwezig is, maar niet volledig tot zijn recht komt. Of woningen die mooi ingericht zijn, maar waar de ziel ontbreekt. Voor mij is een interieur geen verzameling van losse objecten. Het is een geheel waarin alles met elkaar verbonden mag zijn. Daarom vertrek ik nooit vanuit een schilderij.Maar vanuit de ruimte. En vanuit de persoon die er leeft.
In 2014 I will start De Tuin der Kunsten. No surprise to those who know me. Following my imagination and creativity, the desire to discover and the love to collect. A 2005 trip with friends to Avignon visiting a local flea market is etched in my memory.
Mijn manier van werken is intuïtief. Maar tegelijk heel gericht. Ik zie snel:
- wat werkt
- wat ontbreekt
- waar meer rust mogelijk is
- waar kunst een verschil kan maken
Soms gebruik ik interieurcollages, moodboards of AI-visualisaties om een gevoel zichtbaar te maken. Niet als einddoel. Maar als hulpmiddel. Om samen te ontdekken wat een ruimte nodig heeft.
In 2013 I will start studying antiques. From then on I will look for objects that touch me every week. 1 year later, The Garden of the Arts is a fact. The Garden of the Arts is a derivative of 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' (Jheronimus Bosch). The garden represents a central place where all the arts come together and are connected.
I start buying & selling authentic items. I follow my heart in this. The Garden of the Arts is evolving into a place where art connects with interior. Where the aesthetic & authentic come together, where color & texture form 1 whole. Accessible and affordable for everyone.

I come from a nest of self-employed people. Entrepreneurship is in my blood. Hard work and social contact are paramount. Imagination and creativity have played an important role all my life. I like collecting. My book collection now numbers 12,000, with the first book 'Antiques from the Low Countries'. Charlotte likes to explore. Travelling, reading and nature give her peace and energy.
Een ruimte wordt rustiger. Meer eigen. Meer persoonlijk. Meer juist. Niet omdat alles perfect is. Maar omdat alles met elkaar verbonden voelt. Dat is waar ik elke dag naar op zoek ga. Voor mijn klanten. En voor mezelf. Want uiteindelijk gaat het niet om kunst. Niet om decoratie. Niet om interieur. Het gaat om thuiskomen. In een ruimte die voelt als jezelf.
