This is a piece of Fluid art on chipboard. Fluid art is made by pouring high-gloss liquid acrylic on canvas, cardboard or textile. Fluid acrylics are thinner than normal liquids and can be applied with a squeeze bottle, spray bottle or brush to create these beautiful oily designs. The paint can be bought ready-made or many artists make their own by diluting regular acrylic paint. It can be fixed or made glossy with spray or pour varnishes in gloss, satin or matte finishes, depending on the artist's vision. It's actually really fun and also easy to create a wide variety of abstract artwork this way. Using a lazy Susan makes covering a cloth fun and moving the cloth around while holding the bottles in place, tilting and tilting the backing material all add different layers of movement and style to a work. Finishing with a lacquer or varnish protects the paint and prevents chipping and damage from dust or soil and preserves the colours.
