FIND BEAUTY IN SMALL THINGS.
My fascination with art and authentic objects truly took shape in 2013, when I started my antique dealer training. From that moment on, I almost weekly began searching for:
- Objects that moved me:
- Objects with character.
- Objects with a soul.
- Objects that tell a story.
In 2014, I founded De Tuin der Kunsten as a sideline business. Initially, the focus was on discovering, collecting, and selling authentic art and decorative objects. But gradually, I discovered that my true passion wasn't in the object itself. Rather, it was in what happens when an object finds its rightful place. When art, decoration, and interior design enhance each other. When a space gains more warmth. More personality. More harmony.
In 2021, I made the leap to full-time work as an interior composer and owner of De Tuin Der Kunsten.
Today, I help people harmonise art, decoration and interior design so that a space not only looks beautiful but also feels good.
I believe an interior should tell a story about the people who live there.
- Not about trends.
- Not about perfection.
- But about personality.
- About memories.
- About what touches someone.
My mission is simple:
De Tuin Der Kunsten brings color and harmony to interiors by interpreting, rather than just displaying, art and objects. I help people who have a lot but have lost their overview, as well as people who know what they want but need help making it right.
Therefore, I don't just sell art. I restore the connection between:
- People and their space.
- Objects and emotion.
- Old and new.
- Feeling and harmony.
That is the common thread in everything I do.
I look at:
- the space
- the light
- the existing furniture
- colours and materials
- the personality of the residents
- the feeling a space should evoke
I often see interiors where art is present, but doesn't quite come into its own. Or homes that are beautifully decorated, but lack soul. For me, an interior is not a collection of separate objects. It is a whole where everything should be connected. That's why I never start with a painting. Instead, I start with the space. And with the person who lives there.
In 2014 I will start De Tuin der Kunsten. No surprise to those who know me. Following my imagination and creativity, the desire to discover and the love to collect. A 2005 trip with friends to Avignon visiting a local flea market is etched in my memory.
My way of working is intuitive. But at the same time very focused. I quickly see:
- what works
- what's missing
- where more tranquility is possible
- where art can make a difference
Sometimes I use interior collages, mood boards, or AI visualizations to make a feeling visible. Not as an end goal. But as a tool. To discover together what a space needs.
In 2013 I will start studying antiques. From then on I will look for objects that touch me every week. 1 year later, The Garden of the Arts is a fact. The Garden of the Arts is a derivative of 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' (Jheronimus Bosch). The garden represents a central place where all the arts come together and are connected.
I start buying & selling authentic items. I follow my heart in this. The Garden of the Arts is evolving into a place where art connects with interior. Where the aesthetic & authentic come together, where color & texture form 1 whole. Accessible and affordable for everyone.

I come from a nest of self-employed people. Entrepreneurship is in my blood. Hard work and social contact are paramount. Imagination and creativity have played an important role all my life. I like collecting. My book collection now numbers 12,000, with the first book 'Antiques from the Low Countries'. Charlotte likes to explore. Travelling, reading and nature give her peace and energy.
